Nutrition is Key

Veggies

Nutrition is key.  You can work as hard as you want, but if you're not eating right, none of it matters.  Today a Beachbody rep came to our workout to discuss our meals with us, which are provided by a great little company here in New York City by the name of 5squares.com, answer any questions, get our feedback on what we liked and disliked, etc…it was very informative and helpful.

My initial request was based on the fact that they want us to be able to continue on this type of meal plan in the future to continue to see our results.  However, with the meals we have been receiving, we've had no idea of specific portion sizes (in ounces) or recipes on HOW the meals were made, and what was used to cook them, so it's tough to replicate.  Thus, I requested both of those pieces of information, and they happily said it would be provided.

Many people then talked about having serious sugar cravings, especially in the evenings.  Once Shakeology is added to the meal plan that will easily take care of the sweet cravings, along with helping numerous other things, but their plan is to first break everyone of their sugar addiction in the first few weeks, so how well they can respond, and THEN introduce Shakeology.  Makes sense, going for a baseline with everyone first instead of immediately fulfilling their cravings.

The next topic was rather more delicate.  You see, with an 1100 calorie diet of mainly protein and veggies, little to no fats or crabs or sugars, the body tends to…not flow as well.  People were having restroom issues, many more than the Beachbody rep expected, and so Shakeology: The Fiber was handed out to those having the worst issues.  The Fiber is a blend of 6 different types of fiber, each acting in unique ways to help regulate your body, helping with digestion, removing toxins, and curbing hunger.

Overall, even though people had their likes and dislikes with certain food items, everyone agreed that the quality of the meals was amazing, and that there were some truly delicious things to be had.  Just remember, you don't need a special company to prepare your meals in order to eat healthy and see results.  You simply need to focus on the core categories of protein, veggies, fats, carbs, and sugars, and portion each in the right ways depending on where you are with your fitness, and you can improve your health and fitness in amazing ways!  As a Beachbody coach I'm always happy to help you figure out a nutrition plan to go along with whatever workout you're doing, so feel free to contact me anytime!

Looks like your site is coming along very nicely.  I like this article.  This kind of practical advice is always welcome and helpful.  Thanks for sharing and I look forward to coming over and checking out your site more carefully!

  9. I know the fiber issue sounds funny, but it's actually a very serious issue for a lot of the people in the class….when you start getting blocked up, it throws your entire body off, and that affects your mental and emotional state as well.

  10. I agree with you John, nutrition is so important to weight loss!    It's great that you teach people how to prepare their own nutritious meals versus relying on others to do that.

  11. Oh man I love this. The opening line say's it all, "You can work as hard as you want, but if you're not eating right, none of it matters." I tell this to people all the time when they ask me why they're energy is low or keep having health problems even though they exercise. Thanks for sharing!
